Woodfield bureau books softball and CEOs

The Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau based in Schaumburg has booked three new events to be held in the area this summer.

The first event, Senior Softball Midwest Championships, will be in the region June 8 to 14. Games will be played in the Schaumburg, Itasca and Wood Dale areas, generating over 1,000 room nights, and bring in approximately 60 teams, over 720 players participating. The event's host hotel is the Sheraton Suites Elk Grove with co-host properties, Doubletree Schaumburg and Days Inn Elk Grove.

The second new event is the BSC (Black Softball Circuit) DiMarini Chi-Town Classic Tournament that will be in this market, June 27 and 28. About 50 teams are expected for this first Chicago area tournament for BSC. Approximately 800 rooms are associated with this event and over 600 players with spouses and families are expected in Schaumburg and Arlington Heights. BSC has a mix of men's, women's and coed teams. In 2008, the BSC World Series in Columbus, GA hosted 125 teams. Games will be played in Schaumburg and possibly on ancillary fields in the area.

The host hotel is Holiday Inn Rolling Meadows; the co-host hotel is Sheraton Chicago Northwest in Arlington Heights.

And the Illinois Society of Association Executives (ISAE) has chosen the Woodfield Chicago Northwest Region as the site of its Annual Summer Session July 9 to 11.

Each year this organization receives numerous bid proposals from cities throughout the state and ultimately awards one convention bureau the three-day conference. For the Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau as the host, the Summer Session provides the opportunity to showcase the area to CEOs, meeting planners and management executives of statewide associations. The majority of Illinois associations are located in Central Illinois and host their own membership meetings throughout the year in different regions of the state.

Roughly 100 people attend the event, which allows time for suppliers to interact with the executives at fun social venues with preplanned activities.
