Right-wingers shoot nation in foot

Historical evidence has shown time and again that government spending grows the economy, whereas tax cuts have the opposite effect, because they deprive the government of revenues to spend. It is dumbfounding that, despite all the evidence, Republicans continue to trumpet more tax cuts and less government spending. I'm wondering about their good faith and even about an ulterior motive. I think they want to undermine Democratic effort to turn the economy around. They fear that their Republican ideologies on taxes and government spending will be proved wrong once again, and they will be out of power for a long while just like after FDR's New Deal. These right-wing ideologues are collectively shooting this nation in the foot.
