Batavia charity dance

The Batavia Full-Time Firefighters Local 3436 will have a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser dance from 7 to midnight tonight at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1197, 645 S. River St., Batavia. Admission is $15; there is a cash bar. An appetizer buffet is included. The Lazy Maybes will play starting at 8. Money raised is used for local charitable efforts. Hear flute recitals

Lynne Green's School of Flute will hold recitals at 2 and 4:30 p.m. today at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 40W451 Fox Mill Boulevard in St. Charles. Each session features middle school and high school performers. Admission is free. Call (630) 584-8117 for information.

Long Elburn tradition

St. Gall Catholic Church will host its annual St. Patrick's Day dinner from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday in the church hall, 120 W. Shannon St. (at Route 47) in Elburn. The tradition began 126 years ago. Carryouts will be available at the American Legion Post 630 at 112 N. Main St. Dinner includes roast turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, rolls and pie. Cost is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $4 for children aged 6-12. Board seeks student talent

Students ages 5 to 18 are invited to enter the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board's first El Talento de Aurora showcase to take place at the El Dia de Los Ninos Festival on April 25. All performances are welcome, but must be appropriate for a young audience. Scholarship applications

Applications are being accepted for scholarships that Central DuPage Hospital's Auxiliary will award to high school, college and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in health care. To qualify, students must have plans to attend a college, university or graduate program in the fall. They also must document academic excellence, plan to pursue a career in health care and live within Central DuPage Hospital's service area. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available online at cdh.org. The completed application, personal statement, transcripts and reference letters are due by March 31.
