Schaumburg to honor volunteers

The village of Schaumburg is again soliciting nominations for its 2009 Volunteer of the Year awards.

Once more, there are three categories: adult individual, youth individual and organization.

Finalists will be invited to and winners announced at the Volunteer of the Year Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at Chandler's, 401 N. Roselle Road.

Featured speaker will be local businessman and international explorer John Rippinger.

He also co-piloted the balloon named Chicago that won the U.S. National Gas Balloon Championship in 1981.
