Well, they are certainly colorful

See "The Taffetas," Rick Lewis' off-Broadway musical revue, celebrating 1950s girl groups. The show features plenty of singing and lots of colorful costumes.

Cats on a high wire

Animal trainer Samantha Martin and her Acro-Cats, known as the "Circus Cats of Chicago," perform a wide range of tricks. The talented felines can push shopping carts, climb ropes, walk on high wires and ride skateboards - just to name a few of their feats.

Comedy for a cause

The Barrington Youth Football Association presents "Comic Relief," a benefit comedy night for the Colin Barth Family Fund. Barth was a Barrington Youth Football coach who recently lost his battle with cancer. The evening features a cocktail hour, followed by a buffet-style dinner and a comedy show. Jimmy McHugh's Chicago Comedy All Stars headline the show, with comics including McHugh, Tim Walkoe, Dobie Maxwell and Sonya White.

Friday, Feb. 27, at the Stonegate Conference Center, 2401 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m., and the comedy show begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $50 per person. For tickets, go to barringtonbroncos.net.

Rod is a riot

Ed Furman and T.J. Shanoff's political spoof "Rod Blagojevich Superstar!" combines the scandals of former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich with 1970s rock operas such as "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Godspell."
