No injuries in Crystal Lake house fire; cause under investigation

No one was injured in a fire authorities said caused about $210,000 damage to a Crystal Lake home on Sunday afternoon.

An occupant of the single-family residence located on the 6100 block of Running Iron Drive told authorities he heard a loud bang and saw heavy smoke. Crews found fire in the basement and east side of the first floor, Crystal Lake Fire Battalion Chief Paul Pollnow said.

There are no hydrants in the area, so water had to be shuttled to the scene.

The fire, which is being investigated, was under control within 30 minutes, Pollnow said.

More than 10 area fire departments assisted.
