Motorcycle crash in Naperville injures one

A Downers Grove man is in critical condition following a weekend motorcycle accident in Naperville.

Jaunius Geleziunas, 18, was driving his motorcycle east on Chicago Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Sunday when he struck a vehicle turning left onto Chicago from Bridlespur Drive, according to police.

"There are some indications there was a second motorcycle involved that did not stay and it does appear speed was a factor," Sgt. Lee Martin said.

Geleziunas was not wearing a helmet while driving the blue 2007 Yamaha YZFR6 motorcycle and sustained serious injuries, according to police. He was taken to Edward Hospital where he was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.

Sharon Votava, 51, of Naperville, and Tammy Sue Erlandson, 23, of Des Moines, Iowa, were in the car, a tan 2002 Nissan Altima, but did not sustain any injuries.

No charges have been filed and police say they are still investigating. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact police at (630) 305-5285.
