League to register voters

The League of Women Voters of Naperville will register voters from 1 to 4 p.m. March 8 at the three Naperville Public Library locations - Nichols, Naper Boulevard and 95th Street. To register, you must live in your precinct at least 30 days before the April 7 election. Two pieces of identification are required, including one with your current address. The last day to register or transfer your registration before the April election is March 10. DuPage and Will County residents also may register in three Naperville locations: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Naperville city hall, 400 S. Eagle St.; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Naperville Township offices, 139 Water St.; and at the Secretary of State Drive License Facility, 931 W. 75th St.

ALS research fundraiser

A Glen Ellyn family will hold its third annual "A Toast to Life" benefit dinner to raise funds for research of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The dinner will be from 6 to 10 p.m. March 7 at Enclave, 220 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago. Bob Madden, a veteran sergeant of the Glen Ellyn police department, was diagnosed with ALS in 1999. He died May 22, 2007, at the age of 51. The event last year raised more than $30,000 for research. All proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association's ALS research program, called Augie's Quest. Win a $10,000 scholarship:

The Foundation for Educational Excellence for West Chicago Elementary District 33 is offering a $10,000 College Scholarship Raffle. Tickets are $20 each and only 1,000 will be sold through April 20. A second place prize of a $500 savings bond has been donated by DuPage National Bank. The drawing will take place April 23 near the beginning of the District 33 school board meeting. Tickets are available from foundation trustees, at the district office at 312 E. Forest Ave. in West Chicago and at DuPage National Bank's, 101 Main St. Tickets also are available to buy with a credit card at westchicago33.revtrak.net.
