Lombard aims to honor local businesses

Whether it's customer service, landscaping or building enhancements, if a Lombard business is doing things right, elected officials want to know.

The village is seeking nominations for its annual Business Recognition Awards that will be presented during a banquet in April. Anyone can submit a nomination.

"If somebody stands out, please nominate them," Trustee Dana Moreau said.

Nominees are sought in several categories:

• Business Pride Award for serving as an example of a successful, responsible company;

• Property Improvement Award for improvements to existing or vacant properties;

• Property Stewardship Award for impeccably maintained buildings or landscape;

• Major Milestone Award for new technology development, new products or significant business growth and job creation for residents;

• Jim Bell Distinguished Developer Award for a developer who has constructed a high-quality project within the community;

• Customer Service Award for demonstrating exceptional customer service.

Past winners have included Lombard Body & Fender, Bella Ink Designs, Chicago Soy Dairy, Contours Express, Schweppe Inc., Yeager Fotografix, the Shops on Butterfield and Lombard Hobbies.

Winners and nominees will be honored at the 14th annual Business Recognition Award Luncheon on April 22.

The deadline for nominations is Feb. 27. They will be accepted at village hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave. Forms can be found at villageoflombard.org, and questions may be directed to Janet Downer at (630) 620-5746.
