Cook County briefs

7 arrests in Super Bowl sting:

Bartlett police announced Tuesday they made seven DUI-related arrests over Super Bowl weekend. Police had additional squad cars on Bartlett roads over the weekend, as the Super Bowl traditionally sees an increase in drunken driving cases. The ages of those arrested were 21 to 43 and they were from the surrounding area, including Aurora and Elgin. IDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration sponsored the "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" campaign.

Spot severe weather patterns:

Hoffman Estates will host the first of two severe weather classes, taught by the National Weather Service, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today at the Ed and Mary Hennessy Room at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road. The class shows public safety and public works officials how to better notice when severe weather systems are moving into the area, so they could better notify residents of dangerous weather patterns. The public is also invited to the free event. RSVP by calling Ryan Muscavitch at (847) 843-4830 or e-mail ryan.muscavitch@hoffmanestates.org. If you can't make it today, a second class will be held at 1:30 p.m. March 4.
