Schaumburg townhouse garage fire investigated
Schaumburg fire officials are still investigating a blaze that started inside the garage of a townhouse at 1308 Springwood Drive at 8:55 p.m. Monday night.
Captain John Steele of the Schaumburg fire department said no one was injured in the blaze, but that four families were displaced by the fire.
He said while the blaze remains under investigation, the fire is not suspicious in nature.
He said firefighters arrived on the scene at about 8:55 p.m. to see a garage fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters attacked the blaze and had it under control in 10 minutes, but not before the fire spread to the attic in the second story of the townhouse.
He said adjoining units in the townhouse complex suffered some smoke and water damages.
All families affected by the fire were able to find shelter last night and the Red Cross was not contacted.
