Two crashes snarl I-88 traffic

Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of two accidents that has caused traffic on Interstate 88 to slow to a crawl.

The first is a car fire at I-88 and York Road near Oak Brook. It's unclear if there are any injuries from the fire, officials said, but the car has been moved to shoulder of the highway and firefighters are tending to it.

Also, officials report an overturned car at I-88 east of Farnworth Road near North Aurora. At least one car was off the road into a culvert.

Police are also unclear if there are injuries involved stemming from the accident.

The presence of the two situations in the heart of the I-88 construction zone has slowed traffic more than usual, authorities said.
