DuPage Children's Museum cuts budget

The DuPage Children's Museum is cutting 15 percent of its operating budget to address its financial woes, officials announced Wednesday.

The Naperville-based museum will cut operating expenses, eliminate several staff positions, reduce salaries and shorten its midweek hours.

The cuts total about $600,000 and come on top of an initial $200,000 in budget cuts in November 2008.

The museum has been struggling to pay down $13.3 million in debt it acquired to purchase its facility in 2001.
