Fox Lake park building break-in suspect in custody

A 39-year-old Moline man faces charges for breaking into the Lakefront Park Building in Fox Lake last weekend and stealing electronics equipment, police said Friday.

Robert Borg, 39, was apprehended Feb. 21 about 50 feet from the building in possession of various items from the building, including computers, cameras and stereo equipment, officials said.

Police said Borg also caused damage to the inside of the facility.

Lt. Jeff Norris said Borg has been charged with burglary, a class two felony, criminal damage to local state-supported property, a class three felony, and criminal damage to property, a Class A misdemeanor. If found guilty, he could spend up to seven years in jail, officials said.

Borg entered the building after breaking a window on the north side of the structure, police said.

Borg is held at the Lake County jail on $150,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court March 11.
