How raw foods can be part of cancer patient's diet
LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, a provider of nonmedical support at no cost for people living with cancer, will host a workshop on "Living Foods: The Basics of Eating Raw." The workshop will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at LivingWell, 1803 W. State St. in Geneva. It is open to the public. This presentation is free, although registration is required. Call (630) 262-1111 to register.
Gwen and Mary Marzano of EatinVegan will discuss the basics of eating raw, vegan food and teach attendees how to prepare a few tasty and healthy recipes that are easily incorporated into one's regular diet. Attendees will be able to sample the foods that are featured.
"Some of the benefits of eating raw foods are increased energy, due to the enzymes in the foods, as well as better digestion and mental clarity," Gwen Marzano said. "Raw foods are rich in essential nutrients for healthy cells, organs and glands. Incorporating more raw foods into one's diet can increase overall health, mental clarity, and decreases stress."
Marzano stresses that eating raw foods is not a diet, but a lifestyle. "We don't focus on counting calories or fat, but eating more raw foods will result in weight loss," she added.
Please note that eating raw foods is not recommended for persons going through chemotherapy.
