Free health screening

Free screening for blood pressure, weight and body mass index is available from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the Salvation Army, 1710 S. Seventh St., St. Charles. Sensory processing workshop

Carol Kranowitz will be the featured speaker at the Dynamic Child II workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Kaneland High School, Meredith and Keslinger roads in Maple Park. Kranowitz will discuss how sensory processing disorder affects children's learning and behavior. She is the author of "The Out-of-Sync Child" and "The Out-of-Sync Child Has Fun." Girls lacrosse registration

The St. Charles Girls Co-Op High School lacrosse team will hold general registration for all players from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 12 in the lower level meeting room at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. The club fields junior varsity and varsity teams and is comprised of players from St. Charles East and North high schools. Players of all experience levels are welcome. Dad, daughter dance planned

The South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department and FUNdation will host its annual Daddy Daughter Dances from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and Feb. 28 at Corron Elementary School, 455 Thornwood Way, South Elgin. Registration is $35 for residents and $40 for non-residents. The night includes a craft, snacks, drinks and a goody bag. The event is open to girls ages 3 to 12. Call (847) 622-0003.

Violence counseling offered

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. A licensed counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females, and services are free. For information or an appointment, call (847) 697-2380.
