Driver arrested after Bartlett hit-and-run
Bartlett police on Sunday arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run that involved five vehicles.
Antonio G. Cruz, 25, of the 200 block of Neltnor Boulevard in West Chicago, was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, Bartlett police said.
Cruz was also issued citations for operations of an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said. Around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the intersection of Route 59 and Army Trail Road for a report of a hit-and-run crash.
Police said Cruz was driving his car south on Route 59 when he struck five cars while driving in between the vehicles stopped in traffic.
Cruz reportedly left on foot and was apprehended a short distance away, police said. He suffered minor injures and was taken to a hospital. No one else involved was injured. Cruz was taken to DuPage County jail to await a bond hearing.
