Civil suit filed in Gina Dominick's death
The man who got probation on a misdemeanor battery charge in the death of Gina Dominick, 20, of Mount Prospect, was sued in civil court Monday along with his parents, by Michael Dominick, Gina's dad.
While Dominick's death June 29, 2008, was ruled by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office to be the result of a heroin overdose, the suit charges in one count that Dominick died from being beaten by Thomas Young.
In another count, it charges Young with negligence for not obtaining medical treatment for Dominick when she was suffering from a heroin overdose and from being beaten.
Another count charges his parents were aware that her life was in danger and failed to get her medical attention.
Neither Thomas Young, 22, of Prospect Heights, nor his parents, Chester and Teresa Young, could be reached for comment Monday. Thomas Glasgow, Young's attorney in the criminal case, said he wasn't aware of the suit and couldn't comment.
In a plea agreement, Young admitted to striking Dominick in the face. She had bruising and a cut on her eyes, a lump on her head, and cuts and bruises on her arms, legs and lip, according to the autopsy report.
