No special treatment for politicians
Possibly the best thing George Bush did was not to pardon George Ryan.
He deserves no special consideration because he was an elected official. He knew exactly what he was doing, he should have thought of his wife and family a long time ago. He thought only of himself and his own personal gain. Write to our new President and to Sen. Durbin as well. Let them know that George Ryan doesn't deserve a pardon. He's just an ordinary citizen, and we don't pardon them, do we? Illinois is a laughingstock, probably one of the most corrupt states, if not the most corrupt. One more thought: before we put Rod Blagojevich on trial, let's make him reimburse the state for his daily jet flights home. Part of the oath of office of Governor should be "and I promise I will live in the Governor's Mansion so I am available to my constituents at all times".
