Tech firm offers computer security seminar

Progressive Technology Solutions will offer the free seminar "Making Technology Work for You" from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays during May at 720 Industrial Drive, Unit 113, Cary.

The seminar aims to demystify information security and computer networking concerns for business owners. Participants also will learn about Open Source testing tools.

When the company offered the seminar in April, it garnered so much interest, they decided to continue the offering for another month.

"If you use a computer, you have information that can be exposed to many kinds of threats," said Christopher Smith, Progressive Technology Solutions' chief technologist.

"We are not here to scare you," Smith added. "Our goal is to provide you with the tools and knowledge necessary to protect your information and computer systems. By utilizing the tools and implementing the best practices we discuss in our seminar, you will be better equipped to focus on running your business more efficiently and with minimal disruption."
