CASA art contest to 'Color For a Cause'
CASA Kane County, a local nonprofit that serves abused and neglected children, is conducting an art contest titled Color For a Cause. The contest is part of its annual gala event. This year's event, A Celebration of Children, is taking place Saturday, March 7 at the Eagle Brook Country Club in Geneva.
Children up to 17 years old are eligible to submit artwork. The theme is "Happiness is-", and must be submitted on 8.5" x 11" paper. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, Jan. 23. Details are available on the agency's Web site, www.casakanecounty.org.
Winning entries may be reproduced on note cards and sold to the public, featured in the program book for the Celebration of Children Gala and Auction, and featured on CASA's Web site. Original art may be sold to the public at the auction. Profits from the sale of the cards and artwork will benefit CASA Kane County.
The winners will receive samples of their completed cards and their artwork will be featured on CASA Kane County's Web site. In addition, each winner will receive a gift basket filled with age appropriate favorites.
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are ordinary people who do extraordinary things for abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers represent the child's best interests in court and provide consistency for the child during a difficult time. Last year, the CASA Kane County program served 523 children.
