2 hurt in McHenry fire
Two people were injured in a fire that took place just after midnight Monday morning in McHenry, officials said.
A man was flown by helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge suffering from smoke inhalation, authorities said. A woman broke her ankle after jumping from a second-story apartment trying to escape the flames.
The names of the injured have been withheld by police and fire officials.
The fire that broke out at 12:39 a.m. in the 300 block of Creekside Trail in McHenry was under control in about an hour, officials said.
However, officials said people who lived in the four-unit condominium building were displaced by the fire. Officials said the city of McHenry declared the unit uninhabitable because of smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the McHenry Township Fire Department, McHenry police and the Illinois State Fire Marshall. However, officials said foul play is not suspected.
