Extension thanks fair volunteers
"The mission of the Lake County Extension Foundation Inc., is to build resources to enhance research-based educational programs of the University of Illinois Extension while serving the interest of all donors."
Two major fundraisers of the Lake County Extension Foundation took place during the 2007 Lake County Fair.
We wish to acknowledge the dedicated volunteer chair person and their team of each of these very successful fundraisers.
The first was 4-H members and parents selling water, and soda at five different booths. The booths required continuous restocking and two 4-H families stepped up to this challenge.
For the six days of the fair the Tufano Family (Dom, Nancy and 4-H member Kelly) and John Brodzik (4-H parent) donated over 100 hours each as they hauled beverages, ice and cash boxes to ensure each booth was open and ready to serve the fair guests. The Lake County Extension Foundation is grateful for the volunteer service as well as the public who went out of their way to purchase drinks from the non profit booths.
A parking project fundraiser was coordinated and managed by Dick Johannsen. He recruited 63 volunteers and 28 trainees from Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Hundreds of fairgoers choose to make a donation to park on the Extension/Farm Bureau campus.
The volunteer hours contributed exceed 400 hours.
Through the efforts of the two projects, the Foundation will contribute over $17, 000 in support of Extension programs.
Each of these project chairpersons also put in many hours of preparation prior to the fair. The Foundation is grateful to all the volunteers who contributed time and their resources to events surrounding the Lake County Fair.
