Comcast organizing community projects

Comcast is calling volunteers to give their time and talent during its eighth Comcast Cares Day on Saturday, April 25 at one of the 50 community projects throughout Chicago area. Volunteer projects range from working with local park districts on beautification to donating blood.

"Comcast Cares Day is one of the largest volunteer days by one corporation in the country," said Steve Reimer, Comcast Greater Chicago Region. "More than 50,000 Comcast employees, families and friends are expected to volunteer nationally in their local communities and locally we hope to bring together more than 4,300 volunteers."

Local community organizations will be a part of this day of community service. At some of the local events in Chicago, including the Rebuilding Together Aurora, volunteers will participate in fixing homes of the low-income and disabled. The Little Angels Parents Association will have having its volunteers participate in activities with craft-making and sewing various items. The Will County Forest Preserve Conservation Foundation will have a large group of volunteers engage in a forest preserve cleanup.

Some of the local events seeking volunteers are: Rebuilding Together in Aurora; Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity in Aurora; Little Angels Parents Association in Elgin; LifeSource in Schaumburg and Oak Brook; Palatine Community Center; Round Lake Area Park District in Round Lake Beach.

Volunteers who would like to participate should contact Debra Marton (847) 585-6349 or Debra_Marton@cable.comcast.com. For information, visit the "In the Community" section of www.comcast.com.
