SOA launches new expert credential

SCHAUMBURG -- The Society of Actuaries (SOA) launched its first new professional credential in nearly 60 years, the Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) for risk managers, risk analysts and chief risk officers. To earn the credential, CERA candidates are must complete five examinations as well as an educational module and professionalism course, which takes an estimated three to four years. Successful candidates will also become Associates of the Society of Actuaries. More than 60 professionals are currently earning the CERA credential.

Arthur J. Gallagher buys Indiana firm

ITASCA -- Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Wednesday reported the purchase of Strategic Health Plans Corp. of Carmel, Indiana. Strategic Health Plans offers employee benefit consultation and brokerage services to their clients in the Midwest. The company will continue to operate at their current location under the direction of William Ziebell, executive vice president of Gallagher Benefit Services Inc., a subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
