• Joseph Anthony Caruso, 26, of the 0S500 block of West Chicago, was charged Sept. 5 with criminal trespass and obstructing a peace officer, according to a police report. Police were flagged down by an employee of a tavern on the 200 block of Cedar Street as the employee was escorting Caruso out of the business. The police report indicates Caruso was "obviously intoxicated." Caruso could not stand up, had heavily slurred speech and police could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Caruso. Caruso was asked to leave because he was causing a disturbance in the bar. Employees then escorted Caruso off the property five times, but Caruso returned each time. When police attempted to talk to Caruso, he became belligerent and tried to walk away. When police tried to arrest Caruso, he tightened his arms and tried to pull away. Police took Caruso to the ground, where he then attempted to resist being handcuffed. Police eventually secured Caruso and placed him in the back of a squad car. At the police station, Caruso refused to exit the squad car.
