First Congregation Church notes

First Congregation Church in Crystal Lake will host Great Decisions 2008 National Discussion Program.

Sessions feature lively discussions and stimulating conversations on topics chosen each year by the Foreign Policy Association. The FPA is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit, nongovernmental educational organization seeking to help Americans get a better understanding of significant world issues.

Briefing books published by the FPA place the issues in historical context and provide background, current policies and alternative policy options.

Topics for 2008 are:

• Iraq End Game

• European Union at 50

• Talking to Our Enemies

• Russia

• U.S. Defense & Security Policy

• Latin America: Shift to the Left?,

• U.S. and China Trade Policy

• Private Philanthropy.

Eight meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on consecutive Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 5, at First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake.

Registration is required by Jan. 25.
