Police hunt Glendale Heights armed robber

Glendale Heights police are searching for an armed robber who stole a man's wallet and money at gunpoint, authorities said Thursday.

Police said the victim had just gotten out of his vehicle about 9:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Fox Avenue when a van pulled up and a man armed with a shotgun emerged from the passenger's side door.

The gunman took the victim's wallet and then got back in the van, which left going north on Liberty Street. The robber is described as a black male, 18 to 25 years old, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with an average build.

At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black knit hat, black hooded sweatshirt and dark baggy jeans. He was riding in a black 1990s-era Chevrolet Venture. Police do not have a description of the driver.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Denny King at (630) 909-5454. Callers may remain anonymous.
