Grant High needs building loan
Grant Community High School has a long tradition of managing its resources wisely.
Careful financial management has led to a balanced budget for 10 years.
Quality educational services have provided the students who attend GCHS with an ever increasing number of honors and AP (Advanced Placement) classes.
The athletic and music programs are impressive.
On Feb. 5, the voters will be asked to approve a building bond referendum to build and equip 21 additional classrooms, including science labs, as well as a field house/activity center.
The field house/activity center will be utilized seven periods per day at 100 percent capacity with about 980 students being served on a daily basis. Financially, the construction cost of the field house is the same as the cost of the same size gym space, but will allow for a multitude of additional school and community activities.
This project will accommodate the growth of our student population from its current enrollment of 1,745 students to the projected 2,300 students in 2014.
The passage of this referendum will not raise the tax rate.
It's a win-win .
