Dog along for the ride when woman drives off in wrong car

It's a safe bet that Sammy the German Shepherd doesn't have much guard dog training.

It's also likely he's about to get some after letting a stranger drive off with owner's car Tuesday morning.

Aurora resident Patrick Bullis ran into the One Stop grocery store in the 200 block of Lake Street to grab a few things. He left his Nissan Altima running.

"I happened to notice that I left it running parked right next to another Nissan Altima with the motor running," he said.

When he came out, Bullis said there was only one Nissan in the lot and it wasn't his.

Police are not naming the woman who mistakenly drove off with Bullis' car, and Bullis never saw her himself, but witnesses said she drove about a block and returned the car near where she took it from, apparently after realizing her mistake.

"It was an honest mistake. Maybe she was in a hurry," Bullis said.
