Doctor to discuss health care reform
The Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors invites the community to an adult education program on "Healthcare Reform in America."
Join an informative evening discussing a topic which affects everyone - health care in America. This event is free and open to the public.
Author, lecturer and doctor Kenneth Fisher will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at the FVJN, 121 S. Third St., Geneva. To RSVP, e-mail to nsohnworks@aol.com.
Fisher has written and spoken extensively, including recently on NPR, about health care reform, and related topics. His writings and lectures include public policy changes to improve our health care system, including actions that individuals and Congress should take at this time. In his latest book, "In Defiance of Death: Exposing the Real Costs of End-of-Life Care," Fisher uses the example of end-of-life care as emblematic of how Americans frequently practice excessive and inappropriate medical care in the U.S.
Fisher is a nephrologist (kidney specialist) who has been practicing medicine for over 40 years. Currently, he is a nephrology consultant for two hospitals in Kalamazoo, Mich., and is the medical director of The Free Medical Clinic of Kalamazoo, one of Michigan's busiest free clinics. He has written over 40 scientific and medical policy articles.
