Great week of band music in Wheaton
What a week of band festivities in Wheaton! I would like to thank all the people and sponsors who provided such talented performers. Memorial Park was like Grand Central Station all week to the delight of many people. If you couldn't find a band or duo you liked, well then move to Timbuktu! One was better than the next.
My favorite was the Uilleann piper Kieran O'Hare and his wife Liz Knowles who played the fiddle. I was awe struck at their talent and the wonderful combination of the two instruments. All the bands were terrific, but I was especially impressed with the Crystal Lake Community Band who I had never heard. They came on late on Friday of the fesitivities and I almost left early. Thank goodness I didn't as they completely surprised me with their selection of music and talent. I would definitely have these two groups back.
We are so lucky in our city to have such wonderful musical programs throughout the summer. I so look forward to these each year. It's a community gathering and it's so nice to run into many people I know.
Thank you, thank you to the to the city and every person involved in planning these activities. Keep up the great work. It is a labor of love and such a gift to all of us!
