Bears put Bowman on injured reserve, sign safety Holt

The Bears on Wednesday placed CB Zackary Bowman on injured reserve due to a bicep injury and signed S Terrence Holt to the active roster.

Bowman appeared in his first NFL contest last Sunday against Minnesota, recovering a muffed punt for a touchdown and picking off a pass with under a minute to play to seal the victory for Chicago, earning him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He was the first Bears player to record a touchdown and interception in his NFL debut since Gerald "Bones" Weatherly on September 17, 1950 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Holt entered the NFL as a fifth round selection (137th overall) of the Detroit Lions in 2003. The North Carolina State product spent four seasons in Detroit before signing with Arizona as an unrestricted free agent on March 8, 2007. He was released by the Cardinals in the offseason before signing with Carolina on March 20, 2008. He was waived by the Panthers at the end of the preseason. Holt has started 43 of 69 games played in his NFL career recording 245 tackles (172 solos), eight interceptions and 13 passes defensed. He has added four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and a half sack. Last season with the Cardinals, Holt started all 16 contests at free safety and led the Arizona defensive backs with 75 tackles.
