All pit votes should have been 'no'

All pit votes should have been 'no'

Congratulations to the three zoning appeals board members who voted "no" at the July 26 public meeting. My question to the three who is, "On whose side are you?"

The 150 Cary residents in attendance unanimously voted "no." The board's vote should be consistent with the wishes of the people and to vote otherwise is unconscionable.

Meyer's hired consultant glossed over the possibility of drinking water contamination. Another point which seems to have been glossed over is the proposed tunnel running under Klasen Road for a conveyor belt.

The money Meyer has offered Cary is a joke because the real estate tax receipts from private homes built on the site would amount to many millions more in the long run.

Meet the mayor and the zoning board at the next meeting at the Cary Village Hall at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 and lend your voice to the opposition.

Margaret Mary angel was example to all

This past week, the untimely passing of Kathy Fuller, pastoral associate at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, was met by many with deep sadness.

She was a silent angel among us, working with those less fortunate by providing a hand up instead of just a hand out. She attended to the weaknesses of the human spirit by strengthening their faith and giving them the tools to extend their boundaries.

In times of darkness in her own life, she never gave up. I recall when she went through a very difficult round of chemotherapy and the doctors all but gave up on her. She reminded them of their Hippocratic Oath and they had no business attending to patients if they were going to give up on them getting better.

For those seeking counsel, she always had an open chair for you to sit next to her. She always listened with enthusiasm.

So few people look for the eternal light in every soul, but this was a gift she had as she went about her ministry. The sweetness of this gentlewoman's demeanor toward the thousands of people she touched over her lifetime leaves an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of those whom have been on the perimeter observing.

She reminded us that true service means selfless love, as we should be open to the needs of all. Kathy Fuller will be remembered with immense fondness and missed by so many of us.

Fault for numbers lies in our hands

A third of America's population is now made up of minorities. In 1 in 10 counties in the U.S., whites are the minority.

Well, boo hoo! What did you think was going to happen? When the drug culture of the 1960s swept over our land, we collectively decided it was "party time." Instead of getting married, having children and participating in church and community events, we created "alternative lifestyles," legalized abortion and started hanging out at rock concerts and discotheques.

Just as the decadent Romans saw their empire fracture and fall under the weight of a multi-lingual society, so, too, will we see ours melt away in a cauldron of multiculturalism.

America is not being co-opted by Third World and uncooperative domestic minorities. We've handed it to them on a silver platter.
