Man arrested after Wood Dale standoff
A Wood Dale man threatening to harm his neighbors, police and himself was arrested and hospitalized following a nearly three-hour standoff with police Wednesday night.
Police Chief Frank Biniewicz said 53-year-old Scott W. Feinberg remains hospitalized and will likely face charges including unlawful possession of firearms, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct when he is released. Those charges could come as early as today.
The chief said the standoff began when someone called police to report Feinberg was threatening to hurt himself. Police responded at about 9:15 p.m. to the 400 block of Clare Court and made contact with Feinberg, who then threatened police and neighbors as well.
Feinberg has had previous run-ins with the law, including convictions for unlawful possession of a weapon during a 2006 DUI arrest and a 1993 conviction for illegal possession of a firearm. Biniewicz said a decision was made to call in the multi-departmental Felony Investigation Assistance Team to handle the standoff shortly after making contact with Feinberg. The tactical and special weapons unit eventually took Feinberg into custody just before midnight. Authorities said Feinberg had come out of the house into his garage to talk with police and was apprehended when he tried to re-enter the house.
Investigators recovered firearms during a search of Feinberg's townhouse. Authorities also said Feinberg carried a valid firearm owner's identification card.
