Generosity exhibited was heartwarming

I have been a part of Elk Grove Township government for over 22 years and I am constantly amazed at the generosity of our residents.

This year has been very difficult for a great many people in our township as well as elsewhere. We are experiencing an ever-increasing number of our residents in need. We have been helping residents with food, heating bills under the LIHEAP program, rent and mortgage payment assistance and all kinds of other emergency assistance.

This year at Christmas we experienced our biggest ever. The township may not have been Santa's workshop at the North Pole but it sure came close to looking like it in our building.

Through the generosity of our communities, we were able to provide a Christmas for 152 families. This included almost 400 children. In addition to food, clothes and toys, each of the kids got book from our "in house library."

We had volunteers come in to wrap the presents that had been donated, pack the food (also donated) and help distribute all of the above.

To our community residents and our community businesses our most heartfelt thank you. It was YOUR gift to others that made Christmas for so many.
