Lake Zurich's defense shuts down Lake Forest

Lake Zurich's girls basketball team didn't turn in quite the defensive effort that it did when it held Dundee-Crown to 12 points earlier in the season, but it was close.

The Bears defeated visiting Lake Forest 48-15 in North Suburban Lake Division action Thursday night.

Lake Zurich (14-3, 5-1) led 30-10 at halftime, then outscored the Scouts 16-1 in the third quarter. The Bears actually got outscored in the fourth, 4-2. Lydia Bauer outscored Lake Forest's whole team, as she netted 16 points. Olivia Allen added 11 for the Bears.

Grayslake Central 62, Lakes 39: Alex Scarbro and Katelynn Putkonen (four 3-pointers) each scored 16 points for the Rams in the nonconference game.

Grayslake Central (8-6) led 13-8 after one quarter and 25-11 at halftime.

Lakes received 14 points from Amber Larsen and 10 from Mary Doupis.

Stevenson 48, Prospect 36: Michelle O'Brien's 19 points led the host Patriots in the nonconference game.

Stevenson (7-10) got 6 points apiece from Kayla Fisher, Stacey Way, Kelsey Simon and Rebekah Ozga. The Patriots opened an 11-4 advantage after the first quarter, were up 19-11 at halftime and 31-20 after three quarters.

Stevenson hosts Northside Prep at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Johnsburg 63, Grayslake North 30: Kinsey Siler had 8 points, and Lauren Erickson 7 points and 7 rebounds for the Knights.

Sophomore guard Melissa Dixon led the Skyhawks with 20 points (four 3-pointers).
