Police seek witnesses

Winfield police are asking for help in finding witnesses to a disturbance late Jan. 8 at Caliendo's Bar, 0S050 Winfield Road. Detectives are investigating the death of a man who may have been involved in the 11:50 p.m. altercation. The 43-year-old Winfield man was found dead in the early morning hours of Jan. 9. Any witnesses to the disturbance are asked to call Detective Ben Olson at (630) 933-7160.

Plan gets final viewing

Glen Ellyn is sponsoring its third and final public open house presenting a strategic plan recommended for downtown from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in the Civic Center, 535 Duane St. Residents may view the plan and comment on it before it goes before the village board for formal consideration.

Attempted robbery arrest

Bond has been set at $200,000 for a Chicago man charged with an attempted robbery in Oak Brook. Police said they arrested Rami A. Hamad after a woman shopping at Oakbrook Center reported a man tried to forcefully remove her purse from her shoulder around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4. Police said their investigation led to Hammad. No court date has been set.
