No prosperity without economy

It would seem that the economic meltdown might have been avoided if the private sector, being the consumer, would not have been spending money that was not earned in the first place, with government sectors also doing likewise. We of the world's industrial countries got what has been catching up with us for a long time. As Ben Franklin once said, "You can't have prosperity without economy."
