Lisle police investigate stabbing after reunion
Lisle police are continuing to investigate a weekend fight in which one man was stabbed and another was injured following a high school reunion.
Louis Hernandez, 38, of Plainfield, was listed in serious condition Tuesday at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital after being stabbed by Tony Oliver, 44, of Indianapolis, Ind., Sgt. Randy Johnson said.
Oliver has been charged with aggravated assault and battery, Johnson said, but the incident remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed.
The fight took place early Sunday morning at the Wyndham Hotel, 3000 Warrenville Road, after the East Aurora High School Class of 1989 reunion, Johnson said. It appears the fight was not directly related to the reunion.
Hernandez, who was the East Aurora quarterback in the late 1980s, was stabbed shortly after 3 a.m.
Johnson said police originally were called to the hotel for a noise complaint, but officers found the two men bleeding after arriving on the scene.
"We found Hernandez lying in the hall bleeding," he said. "Then we found Mr. Oliver out in the hallway pretty beat up."
Oliver and Hernandez were transported to different hospitals. Hernandez went into surgery after arriving at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Johnson said, while Oliver was transferred to Edward Hospital in Naperville.
