Kids health and safety fair in Crystal Lake

It's free, it's fun and it's informative.

It's the second annual Kids Health and Safety Fair which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at Sherman Family HealthCare, 4900 S. Route 31, Crystal Lake.

A fun-filled event for the entire family, the fair will feature free health screenings, safety information, a car seat safety clinic, a visit from Captain Jack Sparrow, games and more.

Free health screenings will include blood pressure testing by Sherman Community Wellness, speech therapy screenings and dentist screenings. At the Sherman Teddy Bear Clinic, nurses will give treatment to stuffed animals brought by attendees.

Promoting safety, the Crystal Lake Fire Department will inform kids about fire prevention and precautions with its Fire Safety House, while the Crystal Lake Police Department will give children the chance to view a squad car. At the car seat safety clinic, parents can have car seats checked in their own vehicles and receive hands-on instruction from a certified child passenger safety technician.
