Schaumbur eliminated at Pontiac
Pontiac spoiled a potentially intriguing consolation bracket matchup in its 79th annual Holiday Tournament.
A win by Schaumburg against Pontiac on Tuesday night would have set up a meeting against former coach Bob Williams and Niles West, which won its consolation-bracket game 60-55 over Plainfield North.
But Pontiac came back in the fourth quarter for a 51-49 victory which eliminated the Saxons (7-6) from the double-elimination tournament.
Richard Barnes led the Saxons with 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the filed but the rest of the team was 12-for-45. They also were just 4-for-25 on 3-pointers and were outrebounded 37-30 in their fourth straight loss.
Josh Walker added 10 points and Javon McDonald scored 9 points for the Saxons.
