The Apraxia Connection's Sunday Fun Day!

On Sunday, Aug. 18, The Apraxia Connection (TAC) hosted its first Sunday Fun Day fundraiser, to raise awareness and support for children with Apraxia of Speech.

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a neurological, motor speech disorder, which makes it difficult for children with CAS to produce syllables and words, using their lips, tongue, and jaw. Typically, children with Apraxia benefit from intense, frequent, and individualized speech therapy.

The event, held at Potato Creek Johnny's in Glenview, included various entertainment, including: JG's Reptile Show, Six on Friday band, cotton candy and popcorn machines, Plinko, and even a visit from Minnie Mouse! Children with Apraxia received recognition, plaques, and goodie bags prior to the end of the event. With over 250 people in attendance and more than 40 raffle prizes, guests enjoyed celebrating the many accomplishments of the children in attendance.

The Apraxia Connection is a volunteer-staffed, 501(c)3 organization, which serves Chicago-area communities and surrounding states. TAC helps reduce the high cost of speech therapy and provides therapeutic tools through grants to families in need; in addition to other resources for children with Apraxia. Thank you to all of the sponsors and supporters that made this event successful!
