Buffalo Grove man charged with having child porn

A 53-year-old Buffalo Grove man was still being held late Friday on charges of possessing child pornography.

According to a statement released Friday, Buffalo Grove police arrested Michael V. Newby, of the 900 block of Hilldale Lane, at his home after a search turned up several electronic images of child pornography.

Buffalo Grove police were contacted in December by an undercover FBI investigator who received pornographic images of children in an e-mail from a Buffalo Grove address.

Local police investigators tracked the images to Newby's home and obtained a search warrant Wednesday.

Newby was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a fine up to $25,000.

Newby's bond was set at $150,000 Thursday in Lake County,
