Hoey hired as Carpentersville police chief
Carpentersville officials announced Wednesday the hiring of Patrick Hoey as the village's new police chief to replace Michael Kilbourne, who is retiring.
Hoey has 31 years of experience with the police departments in Rockford and South Beloit, Wisconsin, including six months as Rockford's interim chief and 18 months as South Beloit's chief. Hoey also was director of security at Hononegah High School in Rockton.
"His wide range of experiences will be an asset to our community and he will continue to move the village forward in a positive direction," Village President John Skillman said in a statement.
Hoey received a bachelor's degree in law enforcement administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb and graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2015. He's a certified member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
His pay will be $140,000 a year.
Hoey will begin his job on May 24 and will be sworn in at the June 1 village board meeting.
