Hoffman, Schaumburg Jaycees to raise funds with pizza competition
The Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg Jaycee chapters will be determining who makes the best pizza in the Schaumburg Township area from 6:30-8 p.m. p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Schaumburg Township Hall, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.
For a $6 donation, area residents will be able to judge for themselves who makes the best pizza in the area, and at the same time help the community.
Participants will have a chance to sample pizzas from several different restaurants in three categories: thin crust, pan crust and specialty. The blind taste test will provide the opportunity for samplers to rank each pizza on a scale of one-five, and votes will be tallied to determine the winner and runner-up in each category. All profits will be donated to state and local charities.
The Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg Jaycee chapters conduct several projects each year including the Make a Difference Day Food Drive, a summer carnival, holiday food baskets, a Christmas wish tree and the Best Pizza contest. At the end of each fiscal year, all of the profits generated from the chapters' projects less chapter expenses are funneled back into the community.
The Jaycees provide individuals between the ages of 18-41 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community. For information, call (847)-385-8265 or visit hoffmanestatesjaycees.org or schaumburgjaycees.org.
