Rolling Meadows firefighter indicted on sex abuse charge
A Rolling Meadows firefighter was indicted Friday on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, unlawful restraint and official misconduct.
Donald Naughton, 40, who lives in Lake in the Hills, was arrested in late December on charges that he sexually abused a then 16-year-old girl, who was visiting the fire station on Meadow Drive in June 2006 as part of an Explorer program for students interested in pursuing careers as firefighters or paramedics. According to reports, the victim did not report the incident until she turned 18.
Naughton, of the 4200 block of Greenfield Lane, remains free on a $50,000 bond. An individual reached at Naughton's residence indicated he had no comment. The Rolling Meadows Fire Department referred all inquiries to the Cook County State's Attorney's Public Integrity Unit. Attempts to contact the assistant state's attorney prosecuting the case were unsuccessful.
If convicted, Naughton faces three to seven years in prison.
