Buffalo Grove

• A 2001 Honda Odyssey on the 1200 block of Ranchview Court was broken into between 7 p.m. Jan. 7 and 5 a.m. Jan. 8; a $250 GPS was stolen.

Des Plaines

• Someone stole a $176 cell phone out of a woman's jacket pocket at the Lattof YMCA around 7 p.m. Jan. 6 after she placed the jacket next to the running track.

• Thieves stole five 18-foot-long white LED rope lights from a flagpole and outside the pumping station in a park district facility on the 1100 block of East Howard Avenue Jan. 1-5 and smashed a 5-foot-tall artificial Christmas tree and a white metal deer. Total loss was estimated at $90.

• An outside electric meter at a business on the 1500 block of River Road was vandalized Jan. 1-6. Damage was estimated between $500 and $1,000.

• Robert T. Lanee, 41, of the 2600 block of Cermak, Chicago, was arrested around 11:10 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Cumberland Metra depot and charged with battery, aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer. His court date is Feb. 19.

• Someone climbed through an apartment window on the 1100 block of Holiday Lane between 8 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Jan. 7 and stole two laptop computers, camera and cash. Total loss was estimated at $2,560.

Long Grove

• Someone stole two radar detectors, golf clubs, a 35 mm camera, leather gloves and a baseball cap Dec. 31 out of a 2003 Toyota Camry on the 3300 block of Prairie Wind Road; loss was estimated at $1,610.

Mount Prospect

• Olivia S. Ortiz, 23, of the 500 block of Ashland Avenue, Elgin, was arrested Jan. 6 and charged with felony theft from Jewel-Osco, 333 E. Euclid Ave. Her court date is Feb. 5.

• A 2009 Toyota pickup truck on the 400 block of North Main Street was broken into between 9 p.m. Jan. 6 and 9 a.m. Jan. 7; a GPS unit was stolen. Total loss was estimated at $350.

• The rear windshield on a 1997 Chevrolet Venture on the 1200 block of North Wheeling Road was shattered between 5 p.m. Jan. 6 and 4 a.m. Jan. 7. Damage was estimated at $250.

• A window on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee on the 900 block of South I-Oka Avenue was broken between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 7. Damage was estimated at $150.

Rolling Meadows

• Rosalinda Veronica Vasquez, 45, of the 4900 block of Algonquin Parkway, Rolling Meadows, was arrested Jan. 4 and charged with retail theft from Wal-Mart, 1460 Golf Road. Her court date is Jan. 30.

• Someone reached through an open window on a 2002 Mercury Sable on the 2400 block of Sigwalt Street between 9-10 p.m. Dec. 27 and stole a purse and satellite radio, worth an estimated $315.

• A $100 portable stereo was stolen out of an unlocked garage on the 2100 block of Eastman Street between 5 p.m. Jan. 1 and 5 a.m. Jan. 2.

• A white gold heart-shaped pendant and necklace, worth about $1,000, was stolen from a guest room at a hotel on the 3400 block of Algonquin Road, between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Jan. 2.

• A 2007 Subaru in an apartment lot on the 5600 block of Astor Lane was broken into between 6 p.m. Jan. 2 and 11:20 a.m. Jan. 3; a GPS and laptop computer were stolen. Total value was estimated at $2,270. During the same time in the 5500 block of Astor Lane, burglars broke into a 2005 Mercedes 240 and stole a GPS valued at $150.

• A 2008 Honda Accord on the 5600 block of Meadowbrook Court was broken into between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 5 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 6; a GPS unit and two cell phone chargers were taken. Total loss was estimated at $750.

Wheeling

• Someone climbed through a window at a home on the 100 block of Coral Lane between 4-6 p.m. Jan. 6 and ransacked a bedroom; it was not immediately clear if anything was missing. Police said muddy footprints near a basement window have the same characteristics as footprints at another burglary in the same subdivision.

• A 2008 Honda Civic parked at a church on the 400 block of South Elmhurst Road was broken into between 8:15-9:25 p.m. Jan. 7; an MP3 player, cell phone, car charger and GPS unit were taken. Total loss was estimated at $675.
