Schaumburg Filene's to close

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The sour economy has forced Filene's Basement to close underperforming stores in Schaumburg and south suburban Orland Park, among others.

"While we have worked with our landlords to look for solutions such as fair rent reductions, we have not found sufficient relief to avoid taking steps toward certain store closings," company spokeswoman Mariellen Burns said.

Starting this week, Filene's began storewide sales.
