Man gets 6 years for molestation

A Lindenhurst man was sentenced to six years in prison Friday for sexually molesting two 16-year-old girls.

Robert Grant, 23, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse during a hearing before Circuit Judge Fred Foreman.

Assistant State's Attorney Reginald Matthews said the girls, both from Schaumburg, knew Grant through a mutual friend.

The girls attended a New Year's Eve party at Grant's house at 231 Briar Lane on Dec. 31, 2006.

The girls, who were intoxicated and had passed out, were sleeping in different bedrooms when Grant molested them about 4 a.m., Matthews said.

The girls left the party with other friends and were treated at separate hospitals.

Grant was originally charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse in the case. Matthews said he agreed to drop the more serious charge in exchange for Grant's guilty plea.

Grant will have to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life once he is released from prison, Matthews said.
